Cologne / Germany, 28 May 2009 – Today, the international trade show ANGA Cable has closed with yet another record in exhibitors and visitors. For the first time the three-day show and congress for cable, broadband and satellite attracted more than 13,600 trade visitors. This represents an increase of 13 % compared to the previous year. The number of exhibitors increased to 380 (previous year: 369), they travelled to Cologne from 33 countries. 1,400 professionals from the telecommunications and media industry attended the congress (1,200 in 2008).

“ANGA Cable has further enhanced its position as the leading market place for the cable and broadband industry in Europe. In Cologne, cable operators have impressively demonstrated their role in pushing broadband upgrading. Cable operators have set new benchmarks with the latest DOCSIS 3.0 standard for cable Internet, bandwidths of more than 100 Mbit/s and the consistent deployment of optical fibre,” recapitulated Thomas Braun, President, Association of German Cable Operators.

Herbert Strobel, Chairman of the Satellite & Cable Trade Association within the German Association of the Electrical and Electronics Industry ZVEI, was also very pleased with the course of the show: “ANGA Cable has set itself apart from the general mood of crisis most impressively. The exhibitors have been excited about the undiminished propensity to invest and the positive mood they have made out in Cologne. Once again, our expectations were surpassed. At no other show are there as many decisions-makers from the European broadband industry.”

ANGA Cable 2010 will take place 4 – 6 May, 2010, in Cologne again.

ANGA Cable is organised by the Association of German Cable Operators (Verband Deutscher Kabelnetzbetreiber ANGA) and is supported by the Satellite & Cable Trade Association within ZVEI.
